  • No corporal/ physical punishment shall be used
  • Discipline shall be consistent and fair
  • Discipline shall not be associated with food, naps, or bathroom procedures
  • No verbal abuse, threats, or derogatory remarks about the child or his/her family will be made
  • A firm, kind voice, shall be used and eye contact established
  • Expected behavior will be on the child’s level
  • Techniques of punishment will not be humiliating, shameful, or frightening to the child
Any serious conflicts, which occur when working with your child, will be discussed with the parent or legal guardian. At Kidz’ Choice Preschool the only discipline technique that will be used is time-out.  When a child breaks the rule, he or she will sit in time-out for one minute for each age.  For example, if your child is 4 years of age, he or she will sit in time-out for a total of four minutes at a time.

In general if your child is too sick to go outside and play, then your child is too sick to attend preschool.  If your child becomes ill during care, you will be phoned at work and asked to pick your child up immediately.  If we are unable to locate the parents, the emergency contact will be called to pick up the child.  If your child has a common cold (slight cough, sneezing, clear runny nose and/or a temperature below 100 degrees) your child may attend preschool.  However, if your child reaches a point where he or she requires constant attention will not play cries continuously, whines and wants to be held constantly, then your child will need to stay home.Any child requiring prescription medication will need to be kept at home for a period of 24 hours until no longer contagious, unless accompanied by a signed note from the child’s medical practitioner. If your child has a communicable disease, please keep him or her at home until your child’s doctor assures you that your child is o longer contagious. The Department of Human Resources required all injured children’s parent(s)/guardian(s) to pick up or arrange for another designated person to pick the child up when he or she is sick.  If the parent(s)/guardian(s) cannot be reached or if the injury or illness is severe, the licensee shall obtain emergency medical treatment.  Ifyour child (ren) is sick and cannot come to care, tuition is still due weekly.  This fee will hold the spot for your child (ren) until he or she return.  If your child (ren) is ill for more than 4 weeks, please contact me to discuss your child (ren) placement.

 MEDICATION

Kidz’Choice Preschool is a medication free school.  We will not administer medication to any children in care.  That includes sunscreen, diaper rash cream and over the counter medication.   If your child requires emergency medications such as inhalers or EpiPens to be kept on school ground, Kidz’ Choice Preschool must have a written emergency medication plan from your child’s doctor.
